Prime Day is one of the best days of the year to buy the things that you need on Amazon. I have put together this guide to help you find the best deals and save the most money on Amazon Prime Day!

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day started out as a way for Amazon to celebrate it’s birthday and has since evolved into an epic 36 hours of Amazon’s best deals of the year. It’s sort of like Cyber Monday in July.

On Amazon Prime Day, Amazon rolls out exclusive deals the week leading up to Prime Day and periodically during the day and a half event.

Prime Day is one of the best days of the year to buy the things that you need on Amazon. I have put together this guide to help you find the best deals and save the most money on Amazon Prime Day!

When you open the app, type “sneak peek” in the search bar to get a sneak peek at your favorite Amazon Prime Day deals.

You also have the option to watch deals that you are interested in to get notified when they go live. Sales come and go quickly on Prime day so be sure to take advantage of this feature!

3. Mark your calendar

Amazon Prime Day kicks off on July 16 at 3 pm ET. Add this date to your calendar to ensure that you don’t miss anything. You do not want to miss these deals!

If you have Alexa, ask her to set the reminder for you. If you don’t have Alexa, you should probably add an Echo show on your shopping list!

4. Make a list of the things you need

A shopping list is the key to saving money on Amazon Prime Day. Deals will be popping up throughout the day, so you want to make sure that you have a plan.

You will find deals on almost anything from clothes to craft supplies to electronics. If you don’t have a list, you may find yourself overspending just because you see a great deal.

Head to the Amazon app, add the items that you want to purchase to your wish list and turn on your app notifications to be notified when this item is on sale for Prime Day.

Simple enough right? Take some time this weekend to figure out the things that you want to buy, make a list and stick to it during the festivities.

5. Take advantage of Amazon Services

If you are looking to subscribe to any Amazon services, take advantage of them on Amazon Prime Day.

You will find the best deals of the year on services like Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Fresh, Prime Pantry, Audible and more!

Some of these services will also offer free or discounted trial periods available only on Amazon Prime Day, so be sure to take advantage of the trial periods as well.

6. Grab Lightning Deals quickly

Lightning deals are Amazon’s version of a flash deal. Different items will have a special discount rate at different times throughout the day. These deals are usually pretty awesome and there will only be a small quantity available.

To find lightning deals on Amazon Prime Day, check out this page. Add the item to your cart as soon as it is available and complete your order in a timely manner.

If an item becomes unavailable, you will see a button to join the waitlist. If the item becomes available again, you will be notified.

You also have the option to watch a deal up to 24 hours before it becomes available, so check out the Prime Day page here to get started.

7. Shop with competitors

I know that some people prefer not to shop with Amazon, so I do want to let you know that it’s ok to shop elsewhere.

A few larger retailers compete with Amazon on Prime Day. These retailers either offer similar prices or will price match Amazon’s deals.

Check out Best Buy, Target, Home Depot and other local retailers on Prime Day for more information.

Even more ways to save

If you are a college student, use your school email address to get a free six month trial of Amazon Prime.

Amazon is also offering $10 when you download the Amazon App for the first time.

When you have downloaded the app, look up items using the camera search feature and unlock at $5 discount on select Amazon Prime Day deals.

If you are interested in using the Amazon Assistant, install it and get $5 off of your Prime Day order of $25 or more.

Last but not least, use your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card to shop at Whole Foods Market on Prime Day and get 10% back on your purchase (Amazon Prime members only).

Bonus Tip

If you have been reading here for any amount of time, you know that I love Swagbucks as a way to make extra cash.

Well, now is the perfect time to earn more Swagbucks and redeem them for Amazon gift cards.

Earn your Swagbucks this week and redeem your Amazon gift card this weekend to make sure everything goes smoothly and for you to use your gift card for Amazon Prime Day.

The Bottom Line

Amazon Prime Day is awesome and feels like Christmas in July! There are so many deals going on that you have to have a plan or you will spend way more money than you intended.

Don’t get overwhelmed by the deals going on and purchase a bunch of things that you don’t need. Stick to your list and use the app to stay on track. That’s all I have for you today. Happy saving!
