I have decided to reserve Fridays for discussions about money. We will now refer to Fridays as Fiscal Friday. I am excited about sharing different topics and learning new things from each of you. There will be a new topic on most Fridays dealing with common money issues that a lot of us face daily. We will talk about everything from college to living on last month’s income.

I have a passion for learning about personal finance and I am currently paying down my own debt. I became interested in personal finance when I graduated college. It was hard for me to understand why I was spending money so quickly. Budgeting was not taught in high school so I was not prepared to balance paying bills with having fun. I began to read blogs and books about money and budgeting. Eventually, I read The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and it opened my eyes to living debt free.

Becoming debt free and leaving a legacy for my family is very important to me. I will make sure that my future children do not think debt is normal. Teaching the importance of only spending money that I have budgeted is my goal. I want to encourage everyone to look at their finances and make a change.

The word fiscal means of or relating to financial matters in general. This describes the topics that we will talk about perfectly. Preparing this content is going to be fun for me and I hope someone can learn from the things that I share. The first seven posts will be about my personal debt free journey. I think this will be a great way to start off Fiscal Friday.
